The story of DynoCams begins with a hobby and some good-natured competition. Mr. Mike and his buddies used to race in the local fields of Delco, North Carolina until a track opened in the area. At this time, there were no track rules in place; if you could build it, you could race it. But a lack of track rules meant there were no weight classes, so Mr. Mike was having a hard time competing against the lighter racers.
"So I just kept trying to make mine faster. You always want to beat your buddies… I couldn't drop 60 lbs. overnight, so I had to find another way to be competitive."
He worked on the carburetor, adjusted the head, and made changes to the compression. He still wasn’t gaining enough ground for a win. Finally, he decided to look at the cam. Camshaft jobs were a lot more difficult in those days. There were no cam grinders, no state-of-the-art technology; just good old fashioned welding and filing. Mr. Mike set out to find a more efficient and precise way to build cams... and he did.
In 1986, Mr. Mike and his wife Mollie officially opened DynoCams. His cam grinding technique far surpassed the competition at this time, and continues to do so today.
DynoCams has grown quite a bit since 1986, now shipping camshafts and engine components across the world. Mr. Mike passed the torch to his son, Michael Bordeaux, Jr., in 2018 so he could enjoy retirement with Mrs. Mollie and his grandkids. He still visits regularly, and is continuously grateful for his loyal customers and employees.
